JR Shikoku (full name: Shikoku Railway Company) is the smallest of the seven main companies of the JR Group.
It’s also one of the last three JR Group companies managed and overseen by a Government Entity: the Japan Railway Construction, Transport and Technology Agency.
It operates a mostly unelectrified network on the island of Shikoku, with some express trains continiung their journey to Okayama via the Seto-Oashi bridge.
Trivia:
Unlike all the other JR group companies, wich use the 3-digit classification system inherited from JNR, JR Shikoku uses a 4-digit system similar to private railways’ ones.
