Purchased from JR East in 2004, DE10 1543 was used on the Tokachi Railway shuttling tanker, hopper and container cars togheter with the rest of the railway’s small fleet of diesel locomotives until the closure of the line in 2012. Two years later, in 2014, DE10 1543 was acquired by the Akita Rinkai Railway and soon after was moved there, re-entering service under it’s original DE10 1543 classification.
